True and Fascinating Canadian History

Mrs Raymond Hnatyshyn,

Spouse of Governor General Raymond Hnatyshyn

Gouverneur général du Canada,

One morning, after visiting the RCMP National Memorial Cemetery at Beechwood, Ottawa, ON, I happended to meet Mrs Raymond Hnatyshyn. She was attending to flowers which adorn her husband's grave which is located near the RCMP's National site.

It was an unexpected honour to meet Mrs Hnatshyhn. She spoke fondly of the memorable years when her husband was Governor General of Canada (1990 to 1995).

Most especially, Mrs Hnatyshyn recalled the professional Security Services which the RCMP had provided to she and her husband over the years which he spend in Ottawa. Mrs Hnatyshyn was very appreciative and kind in her words.

I was also able to tell Mrs Hnatshyhn about the pleasure it was for me to have met her hunband several times and how comfortable he made one feel in his presence.

The Right Honourable Raymond Hnatyshyn died on December 18, 2002. He is missed by all Canadians.
