True and Fascinating Canadian History

Dr. Trudy Eagan (Hon.).

Toronto, Ontario

Hi Buffalo Joe.

I am very proud that you took on the large task of creating memories for so many RCMP officers who spent their lives ensuring we all live better lives.

I smile when I picture you as a rookie constable being assigned to dig your first grave in Regina -- but, I'm sure you would never have anticipated digging one as your first task for the RCMP!

Over the years, I closely followed your successful career and it is heartwarming to see you have used your retirement to give back to your community in general, and specifically to your RCMP community through this website.

Warmly,

Trudy Eagan (Rt'd)
Executive Vice-President
Chief Administrative Officer
Sun Media Corporation
Toronto, Ontario

Trudy is a close school friend whom I have known since our early childhood days in Milltown, NB -- her professional roots took hold when she became a founder of Toronto's Sun newspaper in 1974.

Over the years, Trudy has been recognized by a Women of Distinction Award from the YWCA. She was recepient of an Honorary Doctorate from her alma mater, St. Francis Xavier in Nova Scotia. Her generousity to St F. X. University has allowed for a new space for learning to bear her name: The Dr. Trudy Eagan Lecture Hall at St. FX.

Now in retirement from the Toronto Sun since 2001, Trudy has never retired. She is a founding member of Toronto's Sheena's Place which helps and provides hope to people with eating disorders. She is Chair of the Board of the Arthritis and Autoimmunity Research Foundation of the University Health Network. And she co-founded McDermott House at Toronto's Sunneybrook Hospital along with Canadian professional musician and singer Mr. John McDermott.

Trudy's heart beats as does the heart of Toronto. She is unquestionably one of Toronto's most generous people and as Canadians we are most fortunate to have her among us.

Ms Trudy Eagan & Ms Anne Murray are two dear friends. Each responded when support was needed. They have been very, very kind and generous to me.

Thank you!
