Beverly Karen was born in British Columbia and she was a member of Troop 17 -- the first women to join the Force in 1974.

After Basic Training at 'Depot', Beverly Karen returned to British Columbia ('E' Division) where she was involved in police duties for several years.

Her excellent communication skills and her commitment to policing caught the attention of senior Officers and in 1993, Beverly Karen was selected as the first woman to become IC of Wells Detachment in 'E' Division.

She retired from the Force in 1998.

It was an honour for me to have known Beverly Karen. Bev is buried in Prince George, BC.
