True and Fascinating Canadian History

57673

In Memory of Reg.#57673,

Constable Adrian Johann Oliver

Honour Roll#231

Early in the morning of November 13, 2012, RCMP Constable Adrian J. Oliver was on duty in Surrey, BC and searching for a suspected stolen vehicle when he was suddenly involved in a police cruiser accident and killed. In the midst of grief, Adrian's family and friends from all across Canada realized their need for a place to stay and rest while attending Adrian's funeral.

Honour House

Honour House, located in New Westminster, BC quickly responded to the housing need by opening its doors to the Oliver family and their friends who travelled to the Vancouver area for Adrian's funeral.

According to its website, Honour House is a refuge, a “home away from home” for members of our Canadian Armed Forces, RCMP, Veterans, Emergency Services Personnel and their families to stay, completely free of charge, while they are receiving medical care and treatment in the Metro Vancouver area.

The Adrian Oliver Annual Memorial Run

The Oliver family wanted to reciprocate the kindness which was shown to them during and after Adrian's funeral. They agreed that a Annual Memorial Run in Adrian's name would help Honour House with adequate funds to assist in its yearly operation.

The Adrian Oliver Memorial Run began in 2013, and it is a 5km or 10km race around Deer Lake Park in Burnaby, BC. Gradually, more and more publicity gave the Annual Run the impetus it needed, and by 2017 almost $50,000 has been raised for Honour House in Adrian's memory.

For anyone who knew Adrian, he was described as, "a compassionate, caring person with an infectious smile and a willingness to help anyone and everyone he could. He had a great passion for policing and was equally dedicated to his family and friends."

Today and always, Adrian would be immensely proud that other RCMP members and friends are contributing to the worthwhile cause of Honour House and especially in his name and in his memory. Life is all about returning kindness. R. I. P.
