Commissioner Julian Fantino
I first met Mr. Julian Fantino during the mid 1980's when he was a Senior Officer with the Toronto Metropolitan Police. Our friendship continued over the years while he was Chief of the London, Ontario Police Service during the mid 1990's.
About 1996, I had the opportunity to interview Chief Fantano in London, Ontario. At the time, he granted permission for some of the London police officers to participate with the RCMP in overseas United Nations missions.
It was the view of Chief Fantano that London police officers should be given every opportunity to explore wider opportunities in policing and he fully endorsed the objectives of the RCMP Peacekeeping Branch and the United Nations.
Years later, it was a pleasure for me to meet OPP Commissioner Julian Fantino again during one of his official visit to Ottawa, ON.
